A procession for Harris Co. Deputy Darren Almendarez took place on April 4, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences (1861 Old Spanish Trl) to Brookside Funeral Home (13747 Eastex Freeway). This video is the moment the procession exited the Eastex Freeway. 

Deputy Almendarez, a 23 year veteran of the Houston Police Department, was killed when he attempted to stop thee suspects from from the stealing the catlaytic converter off his truck while shopping with his wife at Joe V’s grocery store in North Houston
