Houston Mayor’s Office Invites High School Students to Apply for 2023-24 Youth Council
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Department of Neighborhoods (DON) have opened applications for the 2023-24 Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC). High school students in grades 9-12 residing in the City of Houston are invited to apply for membership. The application period runs from July 17 to August 4, 2023.
The MYC, modeled after the elected City Council, offers young people a unique opportunity to learn about city government, voice youth-related concerns to city officials, and develop civic leadership skills through community service activities.
To be eligible for the MYC, applicants must be residents of the City of Houston. Members are expected to show commitment by attending meetings and participating in community service activities and events.
Interested students can apply online at https://forms.gle/s5ChDV51mWh37Jkp7. The term of office for the selected members will run from September 2023 to July 2024.
The MYC is administered by DON’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement. For more information about the council and its activities, visit https://www.houstontx.gov/myc/index.html or call 832-393-0970.
