Fatal Shooting of Teenager Under Investigation in Houston

July 26, 2023 – The Houston Police Department is currently investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old male that occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25th, at 1911 Westmead Drive.

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to the initial report, HPD patrol officers were dispatched in response to a burglary of a motor vehicle call at an apartment complex at the aforementioned address. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim in an unresponsive state in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Charger, having suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics from the Houston Fire Department.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was at the apartment complex for a meeting with another male.

The suspect, who remains at large, has been described as an unknown black male. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under active investigation.
