Houston Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Suspect Charged with Murder

Houston police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a suspect charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman at an apartment complex at 2424 Sakowitz Street. The incident took place around 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 29.

The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Marques Kelvin Potts, has been charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court. A June booking photo of Potts, who remains at large is below:

The identity of the 43-year-old deceased woman is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The police were called to the scene following reports of a woman in an apartment pleading for help. Upon arrival, police and emergency personnel found the woman unresponsive at the entrance of her apartment. Paramedics pronounced her deceased from multiple stab wounds.

The ongoing investigation, combined with evidence from the scene and witness statements, identified Potts as the suspect in this case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has been contacted and a murder charge was filed against Potts, who is still at large.
