Constables Recover Stolen Vehicle and $17K Worth of Appliances, Apprehend Evading Suspect

HOUSTON, TX, AUGUST 25, 2023 – Deputies with Constable Mark Herman’s Office successfully apprehended an evading suspect, Robert Britton, in connection with a theft in the 5200 block of Castlebury Meadows Drive. The alleged theft involved $17,500 worth of home appliances from a residence under construction.

The quick response by the deputies led to the observation of the suspect with the stolen appliances loaded in the back of a pickup. An attempted traffic stop escalated into a brief vehicle pursuit after the driver refused to stop. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed at a nearby park, and the suspect attempted to flee on foot.

After a short chase, deputies apprehended Britton and discovered that he had forcibly entered two residences, stealing multiple appliances and causing extensive damages. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle driven by Britton was also reported stolen.

The stolen property was recovered and returned to the construction company. Robert Britton was subsequently arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. He faces charges of Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Felony Theft, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. His court date and bond information have not been set at the time of this report.

Constable Mark Herman expressed his satisfaction with the successful recovery and arrest, highlighting the effectiveness of swift action and a coordinated response by the deputies. The incident serves as a clear demonstration of law enforcement’s commitment to maintaining safety and security in the community.
