Gas Leak Following Comcast Installation Leads to Evacuation in Bear Branch Neighborhood

BEAR BRANCH, August 24 – Residents were evacuated from their homes following a significant gas leak caused by a Comcast cable installation gone awry. At approximately 2 p.m., a hook and ladder firetruck arrived at the scene, followed by another firetruck, an ambulance, the fire chief, and a hazmat team. Residents were permitted to return to their homes 4.5 hours later.

The incident began when Comcast installers struck a gas line, causing a major leak and necessitating an evacuation of the area. Residents reported being able to smell gas upon reentering their homes.

In addition to the gas leak, residents complained about unfinished work by the Comcast team, including unsecured holes in backyards and removed fence boards, which led to potential risks for pets.

The incident has raised concerns among residents regarding the safety and professionalism of Comcast’s installation process. The investigation is ongoing.
