Stolen Vehicle from North Carolina Recovered in Harris County, One Male Arrested

(HARRIS COUNTY, TX, Aug. 31, 2023) – Day shift deputies received a tip concerning the possible location of a Chevrolet Cruze reported stolen out of North Carolina. While patrolling the Maxey Rd. area, deputies located and followed the vehicle, subsequently stopping it at 5600 Woodbend Dr.

The driver and only occupant, Lazaro Fernandez-Rodriguez, was detained as deputies confirmed that the car was indeed the one listed in the stolen vehicle report. Upon speaking with the vehicle’s owner, it was ascertained that Fernandez-Rodriguez did not have permission to be in possession of the car.

During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies discovered a loaded 9mm handgun. Lazaro Fernandez-Rodriguez was arrested and faces charges of “unauthorized use of a motor vehicle” and “unlawful carry of a weapon.” He was transported to the Harris County Jail without incident.
