BBQ Pit Fire Damages Exterior of House in League City, Multiple Fire Departments Respond

LEAGUE CITY, Texas, Oct. 1, 2023 – Three fire departments responded to a barbecue pit fire that escalated out of control at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Trocadero Lane in the Mar Bella subdivision.

The League City Fire Department, assisted by the Dickinson and Kemah Fire Departments, swiftly arrived at the scene. The fire originated on the back porch due to a barbecue pit mishap.

The heat from the blaze scorched the home’s back door, back window, and an exterior wall. “There was also a fair amount of smoke that infiltrated the residence,” said League City Fire Department Lt. Colton Goudie. All occupants of the house were safely evacuated.

Fire crews were initially concerned about a potential explosion due to rising heat affecting a propane tank on the property. Fortunately, the tank’s pressure vent functioned as intended, averting further disaster.
