Does Uber require face masks? Can you sit in front of a Uber?

Uber updated a couple of policies that apply to both drivers and passengers – Face masks are no longer required, and riders can now sit upfront if the group size requires it.

What do drivers think about this?

“I have never actually required masks, but hopefully riders respect that I wear one for my own personal reasons”

“Riders should only sit in the back until their group is big enough for safety reasons? Kind of an oxymoron situation if you ask me.”

Uber did mention in the same statement that the CDC still recommends masks and that both Uber riders and drivers should be respectful of one’s choice.
