Tulsa County Sheriff Faces Lawsuit Over Traffic Accident Allegedly Caused by Negligent Deputy

Lisa Reyna, both individually and as Parent Next Friend of minor L.C., has filed a lawsuit against Vic Regalado in his official capacity as Sheriff of Tulsa County. The case, identified as CJ-2023-2415 Cantrell, alleges a car collision was caused due to a negligent U-turn by one of Regalado’s deputies that blocked both lanes of a two-lane roadway. This resulted in the plaintiffs’ vehicle crashing into a motorcycle rider, resulting in death. The lawsuit also alleges failure to train and strict liability on part of the sheriff’s department. The case will be heard on July 14, 2023, with Daniel Smolen of Smolen Roytman law firm representing the plaintiff.
