Lost Boaters Found Safe After Search Launched
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Two boaters who were reported overdue were found safe shortly after officials launched a search for their vessel on Friday. The couple, identified as James and Sharron Serpas, had left the Rigolets Marina on Thursday (July 28) around 5:30 p.m. in their vessel, the Brians Toy II, and were headed for Breton Sound.
When the couple had not returned by their usual time and their truck and trailer were still at the marina on Friday morning, officials became concerned and initiated a search. The US Coast Guard Sector New Orleans was involved in the search efforts.
Shortly after the search was announced, the couple was located and confirmed to be safe. The quick resolution of the situation was attributed to the community’s support and vigilance.
“Your support, shares, and vigilance played a vital role in their rescue. Together, we proved the power of community and the strength of unity,” officials said in a statement. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety precautions and timely communication when undertaking boating trips.
