Houston Police Department Mourns the Loss of K-9 Winston

HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Police Department (HPD) has announced the end of watch for K-9 Winston, an 11-year-old dog who served the department with distinction from 2014 until his retirement in 2021.

Winston’s brave service included countless missions, supporting his human counterparts and contributing significantly to the safety and security of the community. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer, which ended his time on Earth prematurely.

The loss of Winston is being felt deeply within the HPD and the wider community, where he was known for his dedication, courage, and unique abilities. The department’s statement expressed heartfelt sorrow, reflecting on a loyal and dedicated partner who will be greatly missed.
