Deputy Donald Knowlton Remembered: 63 Years Since Line-of-Duty Death

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – August 22, 2023 – On this day in 1960, Deputy Donald Knowlton responded to a weapons disturbance call and was tragically killed. He was fatally shot by a suspect who was upset over thefts from his garden.

Deputy Knowlton was just 31 years old at the time of his death. He became the 8th deputy to die in the line of duty in Harris County, and his sacrifice continues to be remembered and honored by his colleagues and the community.
