Houston Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on Katy Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – August 24, 2023: Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 10800 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) that occurred around 12:15 a.m.

The deceased male, believed to be between 50 to 60 years of age, was found unresponsive on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes of the freeway at the specified address. Paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man was struck by a vehicle while walking or running on the freeway. It is believed his body was in a dark stretch of the roadway (shoulder) for some time before he was seen by a passing motorist.
