HOUSTON, TX, AUGUST 25, 2023 – In a joint operation, deputies with Constable Ted Heap’s Strategic Response Unit and the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force apprehended two wanted felons in Northwest Houston on Thursday. During the warrant execution, law enforcement officials seized more than 400 grams of crystal meth, 4 grams of heroin, and a handgun.
Blake Umatum, 38, and Taylor Hammons, 29, were arrested without incident. Umatum faces multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and felony parole violation. Hammons is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and felony parole violation.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing collaborative efforts of local and federal law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking and violent crime. Both individuals are currently in custody, and further details about their court and bond information are expected to be released as the case progresses through the judicial system.
