Two SAPD Officers Shot While Attempting to Arrest Dangerous Felon; Suspect Later Arrested

SAN ANTONIO, TX, AUGUST 24, 2023 – Two officers with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) were seriously injured while attempting to arrest a dangerous felon. The shootings occurred in two separate locations, one in the area of 90W and Military, and the second in the area of 35 and Nogalitos. Both officers were seriously injured, and the suspect barricaded himself before being arrested later.

San Antonio’s police chief expressed deep concern over the circumstances that allowed the suspect to remain free despite being out on two bonds for almost a year. The suspect had committed more crimes, was re-arrested, and wanted on three different warrants. The police chief raised pressing questions about why the individual was not in jail and why his bonds were not increased.
