Three Fatalities Confirmed in U.S. Military V-22 Osprey Crash During Exercise Predator’s Run; All 20 Marines Rescued

AUGUST 26, 2023 – Officials have confirmed that all 20 Marine personnel have been rescued following an aircraft crash on the Tiwi Islands, north of Darwin, Australia. A Defense spokesperson stated that three fatalities have occurred due to the crash.

The “aircraft incident” took place during Exercise Predator’s Run, a joint military exercise. The V-22 Osprey was carrying 20 Marines when it went down, triggering an extensive search and rescue operation involving multiple American and Australian agencies.

While all 20 Marines were successfully rescued, the incident resulted in three fatalities. The identities of the deceased and the rescued are being withheld until next of kin have been notified. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
