Suspect in June 18 Fatal Shooting on Avenue C Now in Custody

HOUSTON, TEXAS, AUGUST 30, 2023 – A suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex at 7250 Avenue C around 9 p.m. on June 18 has been apprehended. The suspect, Anthony Campos Galvan Jr., 29, is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court. His booking photo has been released by the Cameron County Jail.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Nestor Saldana. Houston Police Department Homicide Division detectives reported that patrol officers responded to the shooting in the parking lot of the apartment complex and found Saldana with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

A preliminary investigation indicated that an argument in the pool area of the apartment complex led to the fatal shooting. Further investigation identified Campos Galvan as the suspect, and he was subsequently charged on July 12.

Detectives confirmed that Campos Galvan was arrested in Brownsville, Texas, on Saturday, August 26. He is currently held at Cameron County Jail and is awaiting extradition back to Harris County. The case is still under investigation.
