Fatal Shooting Investigation Underway at 2800 West Gulf Bank Road

HOUSTON, TX, Sept. 7, 2023 – Early this morning, Houston police initiated an investigation into a fatal shooting at 2800 West Gulf Bank Road. The violent event, which occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m., resulted in the death of a 34-year-old woman and left a 41-year-old man critically wounded. The deceased’s identity is withheld pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Upon reaching the designated location, officers discovered the victims in a crashed vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. The woman was located in the driver’s seat, pronounced dead at the scene, while the man, a front-seat passenger, underwent emergency surgery at a nearby hospital. A 3-year-old boy, the son of the deceased, was found unharmed in the backseat.

Preliminary reports from a witness recounted that the incident began when another vehicle traveling eastbound on West Gulf Bank Road opened fire on the victims’ vehicle. Following the shooting, the suspects’ vehicle reportedly encountered a tire blowout after striking a curb, forcing them to flee the scene.

In the aftermath of the incident, police located a damaged vehicle in close proximity and detained two individuals for questioning. However, they were later released without charges. It is suspected that a third individual, believed to be the shooter, had escaped on foot before the officers arrived.
