APD Investigates Death Incident on Ann & Roy Butler Trail Following Alert from Apple Device

AUSTIN, Texas, September 10, 2023 – The Austin Police Department (APD) conducted a death investigation near 12 East Ave on the Ann & Roy Butler Trail after receiving a crash notification from an Apple device. The APD responded to a check welfare urgent call just before 12 PM.

Upon arrival, officers found Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) personnel on the scene administering CPR to an individual found down on the trail. Preliminary investigations suggest that the individual had suffered an accident, which subsequently led to a medical emergency.

Despite the resuscitation attempts by the ATCEMS, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Details surrounding the nature of the accident that precipitated the medical emergency remain under investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone with information pertaining to this incident to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation. The identity of the deceased has yet to be released, pending notification of next of kin.
