Inmate Escapes from Texas Department of Corrections Clemens Unit

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – Dec. 17, 2023 – An inmate identified as Robert Dean Yancy Jr. has escaped from the Texas Department of Corrections, Clemens Unit, located near Brazoria, Texas. The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the escape at about 5:13 pm on December 17, 2023. Yancy was incarcerated for a life sentence due to an Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child conviction from Victoria County, Texas.

Yancy’s escape occurred at approximately 3:38 pm, and he fled the prison in a white 2021 Nissan Versa, bearing the Texas license plate #DNR9145. A state-wide license plate reader system was immediately utilized, and it indicated that the vehicle was in Victoria County as of approximately 6:09 pm. The current investigation suggests that Yancy is likely not in Brazoria County anymore.
