Significant Drug Arrest Following Traffic Stop in Harris County
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – On December 21, 2023, a traffic stop by deputies of the Harris County Constable’s Office led to a major narcotics arrest. The vehicle was stopped in the 11800 block of S Sam Houston Pkwy E for traffic violations, including an obscured temporary tag and failing to maintain a single traffic lane.

Additional deputies arrived at the scene to assist. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Thomas Ernest Smith II, underwent a consent-based search of his vehicle, which uncovered 90.1 grams of methamphetamine. Following this discovery, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and felony charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance were filed against Smith.
Smith was then taken to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, where his bond was set at $25,000. This case highlights the ongoing efforts of the Harris County law enforcement in addressing drug-related crimes.
