Houston Police Officer Arrested for Assault

HOUSTON, TEXAS – Jan. 6, 2024 – Houston Police Department officer Valeriano Rios was arrested on Saturday by the Deer Park Police Department on charges of assault. Rios, a member of the Narcotics Division, has been an officer since May 2013. Following his arrest, Rios was booked into the Harris County Jail.

In accordance with department policy, Officer Rios has been relieved of duty. The Internal Affairs Division is conducting an investigation into the matter. The Houston Police Department emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards and stated that appropriate actions, including possible termination, will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.
