Coming Soon: Advantage Mode and Driving Insights

UNITED STATES, June 25, 2024 – Reliable trips keep riders returning to the Uber app. Starting next month, Uber will pilot Advantage Mode in select markets to offer higher earnings and more exclusive ride requests to highly rated drivers who frequently accept, seldom cancel, and transport riders safely.

Advantage Mode Rollout Schedule:

  • July 8-11: Sarasota
  • July 11-15: Austin; Charlotte; Columbus; Kansas City, KS/MO; Miami; Nashville; Phoenix; and Tampa

Uber will notify drivers before the program launches in their market.

Advantage Mode vs. Standard Mode:

  • Advantage Mode: Drivers receive more exclusive ride requests and earn 5% more on UberX and non-premium ride types compared to Standard Mode. Eligibility is based on:
    • Acceptance rate of 25% or more
    • Cancellation rate of 8% or less
    • Star rating of at least 4.85
    • Starting September 2, a CMT driving score of 75 or more
  • Standard Mode: Drivers receive more ride requests through Trip Radar and do not earn the 5% Advantage Mode perk.

Eligibility for Advantage Mode will be checked daily by 5 a.m. local time. Drivers not meeting the requirements will default to Standard Mode for the day.

Driving Insights: In mid-July, drivers in pilot markets will access a dashboard providing insights and a driving score, powered by Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT). This dashboard offers information on driving behaviors, including speeding, hard braking, and phone handling. Starting September 2, a CMT driving score of 75 or more will be required for Advantage Mode eligibility.

    • In Advantage Mode: A 5% increase means the driver earns an additional $150 per month.

  3. Example 3: Monthly Earnings of $4,000
    • In Standard Mode: A driver earns $4,000 per month.
    • In Advantage Mode: A 5% increase means the driver earns an additional $200 per month.
    • Total Earnings in Advantage Mode: $4,200 per month
