Man Fatally Shot in Robbery on Eastex Freeway; Suspect At Large

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred during a robbery at 9278 Eastex Freeway service road around 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 27. The identity of the deceased victim, a 33-year-old man, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Lamont and Detective R. Waterwall, officers responded to a robbery call in the parking lot of a business at the above address. They found the victim with at least one gunshot wound. The man was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses reported that a black male suspect in his 30s robbed the victim at gunpoint and then stole the victim’s vehicle, a 2007 white Honda Accord with Texas license plates MPT2517.
