Fatal Shooting at Houston RV Park to be Referred to Grand Jury
HOUSTON, TX – The fatal shooting of a 53-year-old man at an RV park on Jacquelyn Street in Houston will be referred to a Harris County grand jury. The incident occurred around 7:10 a.m. on July 28.
Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the RV park and found an unresponsive male lying on the ground between two trailers. He had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The shooter, a 41-year-old female occupant of one of the trailers, was not injured. She identified herself to officers as the shooter and stated that she fired a shot at the man as he tried to enter her trailer without permission.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted about the case. It was determined that the case will be presented to a grand jury for review. The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The incident highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence and raises questions about self-defense laws. The decision to refer the case to a grand jury suggests that there are complexities in the case that require further examination.
