Bomb Threat at Harris County Jail; Security Measures in Place

Houston, TX, August 2, 2023 – A bomb threat has been reported at the Harris County Jail at 1200 Baker Street. The threat was received at 8:54 a.m. In response to the threat, local law enforcement agencies have initiated standard protocols to ensure safety.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), in conjunction with the Houston Police Department, the HCSO Bomb Squad, SWAT teams, and explosive-detection K9 units, are at the scene conducting a comprehensive sweep of the building.

There is currently no immediate threat to the public. Despite the bomb threat at the jail, other areas in the county are not affected.
