Charges Filed Against Suspect in Fatal Shooting at 13360 Northborough Drive

HOUSTON, TX – Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 13360 Northborough Drive around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 8). The suspect, Kevin Ray Vercher, also known as “Pee Wee”, 52, is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court. A booking photo of Vercher has been released.

The identity of the victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a business at the above address and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound on the sidewalk. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

A witness and surveillance video indicated the suspect fled the scene in a motorized wheelchair. Officers searched the area and found Vercher in a nearby apartment complex with his motorized wheelchair and took him into custody.

Further investigation revealed the victim had been sleeping on the sidewalk at the time of the shooting.

Vercher was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in the shooting.
