Police Chase in Harris County Results in Arrest of Two Suspects for Vehicle Burglary and Evasion

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas, August 14, 2023 – A sergeant with Constable Mark Herman’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 6700 block of the N Sam Houston Parkway West, which escalated into a brief pursuit when the driver refused to stop.

During the chase, the driver lost control and crashed the vehicle. The two occupants, identified as Johnny Dancy IV and Kedarian Atkins, exited the vehicle and fled on foot, leading to a brief foot pursuit before being apprehended. Both suspects were found to have multiple open warrants.

Further investigation revealed that Dancy IV and Atkins had burglarized a motor vehicle and stolen lawn equipment.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail. Johnny Dancy IV was charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, with a total bond set at $10,100.00. Kedarian Atkins was charged with Evading on Foot and Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, with a bond set at $1,000. The charges were filed in the 177th District Court and County Court 15.
