Jose Antonio Vazquez-Gonzalez Surrenders to Authorities Following Fatal Crash

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – August 22, 2023 – Jose Antonio Vazquez-Gonzalez surrendered himself to authorities without incident this morning, following a fatal crash on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

The accident occurred around 11:50 p.m., when 30-year-old Vazquez-Gonzalez was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado northbound on Airline Drive through the Aldine Mail Route Road intersection. He collided with a 2020 Ram 1500, operated by 31-year-old Juan Loredo, who was turning northbound onto Airline Drive at a red light.

Witness testimony and crash damage evidence indicate that Vazquez-Gonzalez was driving over the posted speed limit. The front of his Chevrolet struck the left side of the Ram, ejecting Loredo, who was transported to a local hospital but did not survive his injuries.

A 28-year-old female passenger, two boys aged 7 and 10, and a 2-month-old infant girl were also transported to local hospitals. Tragically, the infant girl sustained life-threatening injuries and succumbed to them on Sunday, August 20.

Vazquez-Gonzalez fled the scene immediately after the crash, failing to stop and render aid to the occupants of the Ram. He was later identified and charged with Fail to Stop and Render Aid – Death and Fail to Stop and Render Aid – Serious Bodily Injury.

The incident has prompted renewed calls for vigilance regarding traffic laws and a focus on the consequences of failing to adhere to them. The investigation into the crash continues, as authorities work to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
