Constable Ted Heap’s Deputies Partner with Special Olympics Texas for Topgolf Event, Official Sanctioning Expected in 2024

HOUSTON, Texas, Aug. 29, 2023 – Deputies from Constable Ted Heap’s office joined athletes from Special Olympics Texas – Greater Houston Area for a friendly competition at Topgolf. This marks the athletes’ first competition at the venue, where they participated in multiple divisions. At the end of the evening, deputies proudly presented medals to the winners.

In a significant announcement, it was revealed that Topgolf will become an officially sanctioned Special Olympics event in 2024. Special Olympics athletes will have the opportunity to train and compete at Topgolf either individually or as part of a team through Special Olympics Unified Sports. Unified Sports brings together individuals with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, fostering inclusion and mutual respect.

The event served as a joyful occasion for all involved, highlighting the ongoing collaboration between law enforcement and organizations aimed at empowering individuals with special needs.
