Fatal Shooting on Eastex Freeway to Be Referred to Harris County Grand Jury

HOUSTON, TX, September 5, 2023 – The fatal shooting of a 38-year-old male at 15615 Eastex Freeway on Saturday, September 2, around 11:50 p.m., will be referred to a Harris County grand jury for review. The identity of the deceased is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to the initial investigation, officers responded to reports of a shooting outside a business at the mentioned address. Witnesses say a verbal altercation took place between the deceased male and an on-duty security guard. The deceased reportedly pulled a gun from his vehicle and pointed it at the security guard, who then shot the man multiple times. The male was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and decided that the case would be presented to a Harris County grand jury for further evaluation.
