Joint Operation Leads to $10 Million Cocaine Seizure

FAYETTE COUNTY, TEXAS – Nov. 8, 2023 – A collaborative drug interdiction effort involving the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Wharton Police Department resulted in a significant narcotics bust. Sergeant Randy Thumann and his K9 partner “KOLT” of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office intercepted a heavy machinery trailer, discovering 100 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of $10 million.

Authorities extended their gratitude to all the law enforcement officers and agencies that supported the operation, including Sergeant Justin Pannell and Officer Davon Ramirez of the Wharton PD, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and other unnamed law enforcement agencies. Special thanks were also given to Strouhal Tire for their assistance during the operation. The collaborative efforts underscore the commitment to combating the flow of illegal narcotics onto U.S. streets.
