Charges Filed Against Suspect in Shooting that Injured Child and Adult Male; Suspect Not in Custody

HOUSTON, Texas – Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that injured a juvenile male and an adult male at 4702 Lyons Avenue around 5:10 a.m. on July 27.

The suspect, identified as Eric McArthur Irvin, 42, faces charges of aggravated assault of a family member, felon in possession of a weapon, and two counts of deadly conduct in the 184th State District Court. Irvin is not currently in custody, and authorities have released surveillance photos in an effort to locate him.

One victim, an 8-year-old boy, underwent surgery for injuries to his face and was released from an area hospital. A second victim, a 25-year-old man, was treated and released after sustaining injuries from glass shrapnel.

According to the report, the suspect arrived at the convenience store armed with an assault-style rifle and a pistol. He discharged both firearms, injuring the juvenile and shattering a nearby vehicle’s window, causing injuries to the adult victim.

The juvenile victim was identified as Irvin’s son, and evidence indicated that a stray bullet caused glass shrapnel to strike the child in the eye, leading to lacerations and powder burns. Doctors expect the child to make a full recovery.
