UPDATE: DEPUTY SHOT DURING TRAFFIC STOP; MANHUNT UNDERWAY

HOUSTON, TX, August 16, 2023 – A Harris County deputy was shot twice in the upper abdomen during a traffic stop in the 13500 block of Homestead Rd just before 8 p.m. today, prompting a massive manhunt for the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a gray shirt and black shorts. He was last seen driving a royal blue Ford Escape with the license plate number SVG 6590.

The deputy was swiftly transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital via Lifeflight and is expected to survive the injuries sustained in the shooting.

Law enforcement agencies have initiated a manhunt to locate the suspect. They are actively investigating the incident and urging anyone with information about the suspect or the vehicle to call 911 immediately.
