Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting of Juvenile Male at 3806 Faulkner Street

HOUSTON, TEXAS, August 20 – Jarvis Rideaux, 17, has been charged with capital murder in the fatal shooting of Josiah Kelly, 14. The incident occurred at approximately 1:55 p.m. on July 14 at 3806 Faulkner Street.

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address, finding Kelly with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Kelly to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Kelly and Rideaux were inside a bedroom of the residence handling a firearm when the weapon discharged, striking Kelly. Rideaux fled the scene on foot prior to police arriving at the location.

Further investigation identified Rideaux as a suspect in this case, and on August 18, Rideaux was arrested and charged for his role in the shooting. A booking photo of Rideaux is below:
