Texas A&M Forest Service Responds to Growing Loop Fire in Clay County, Achieves 50% Containment
August 27, 2023 – Clay County, TX – The Texas A&M Forest Service has responded to a request for assistance in combating the #LoopFire in Clay County. Initially reported as covering an estimated 250 acres and being 0% contained, the fire has since expanded to an estimated 1,800 acres. As of today, containment has reached 50%.
Dozers continue to work on building fire containment lines, while engine crews are focusing on mopping up areas in the timber where dozers cannot access. The Forest Service is employing a multifaceted approach to contain the growing blaze.
