Cardiac Arrest Survivor Reunites with Rescuers at Houston Event

HOUSTON, TEXAS, August 30, 2023 – Bruce Bailey, a man who survived a cardiac arrest last year, reunited with the bystander and Houston Fire Department (HFD) members who provided life-saving emergency medical services. The heartwarming reunion took place on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Mrs. Baird’s Bakery, located at 6650 N. Houston Rosslyn Rd.

On May 25, 2022, Bailey experienced a cardiac arrest while working at Mrs. Baird’s Bakery. A quick-thinking bystander initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until HFD personnel arrived on the scene. Firefighters from Stations 4, 50, and 62 took over the life-saving efforts and transported Bailey to a nearby hospital for specialized care.

During the reunion, Bailey had the opportunity to personally express his gratitude to those who played a critical role in saving his life. The event served as a powerful testament to the importance of prompt CPR and the crucial role emergency medical services play in community health and safety.
