League City Police Negotiate with Barricaded Man in Emotional Distress in Westwood Subdivision

(LEAGUE CITY, TX, Aug. 30, 2023) – League City police negotiators are currently engaged in talks with a man experiencing an emotional distress crisis who has barricaded himself inside a home. The situation unfolded in the Westwood subdivision, located in the 600 block of Sugar Trail Drive. The incident began shortly before 8:16 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to Lt. Shawn Murray, League City negotiators, who have specialized training in dealing with individuals in emotional distress, are controlling the scene. Police said that the man’s family members have vacated the home but are staying nearby.

Authorities report that the man is not considered a threat to anyone else and is only threatening self-harm. Residents and the public are advised to avoid the area in an effort to maintain a calm environment for negotiations.
